In posting this review I just had my car looked at by the mechanics at Proctor. They never did the full repair and it was my choice to have them look. I was charged standard diagnostic fee and an hour to look at it, at this point my bill was around $174. I got a call and was told they haven't figured it out but hopefully in another hour they would have it. I'm in the hole a bit now but okay, so my bill is now $274. In the end I was told it was a fairly simple part and it would be 2 hours labor to fix. That price was too high for the part so I replaced it myself. I did notice that the screws were stripped on the part I took off (before I took it off) so it was stripped by or before the mechanic put it back together. So I was not informed of any option to replace the stripped out screws or the screws' condition at all when I picked it up. The staff was always very polite and friendly, just wished I would have been informed more of the things discovered while diagnosing the car.

Took a Mercedes coupe in because the A/C wasn't cold and we were getting codes on the dash. They called the next day saying the fan belt was shredded because it had come off while the engine was running. Problems with their statement: I had changed the belt and tensioner pulley two weeks earlier myself. Since doing so the car was driven to San Antonio and back and almost 200 miles locally. I also had opened the hood the day before taking the car to Proctors to check that all the fluids were up and basically nothing was obviously wrong under the hood. I remember eyeballing the belt and it was new just like when I installed it. The next morning we drove the car to Proctors shop location. They are a short 10 blocks from the house. We did not have any problem or hear any sounds while taking the car to them. When they called with their diagnosis I became very upset and we drove over to get the car immediately. I don't know how but not only did they not clear the computer codes from showing on the instrument panel, but there is actually more now.

Surgeon, I'm sorry you felt this way about our assessment of your vehicle. I know it's been a while since you left this review, but the entire team is ASE certified, so it's surprising that you found our diagnostic questionable. These guys know what they are doing and treat you with respect and honesty during your entire interaction with them. As others have said in reviews, they are always quite busy (generally a good sign at an auto shop) and make no promises about time to finish your vehicle, yet almost always get done in half the time or less with whatever you are having done. They shoot you straight and don't try to pull the wool over your eyes. I highly recommend, and they will continue to get my business.

My experience with Proctor Automotive was extremely positive. I called Proctor to get an appointment for a problem with my car and was told that they were very busy and probably wouldn't get to it until the next morning. Since I had the time to take the car in at the time they said I could bring it in that day and leave it over night. When I arrived, I was greeted by Perry who was very friendly and helpful. Again, he reminded me it might be the next morning before they got to my car, but would look at it as soon as possible. He even asked me if I needed a ride somewhere (my wife had followed me so I didn't). To my surprise, I got a call back from Perry that afternoon and they had found the problem and fixed it and my car was ready. Excellent service, fast and friendly. I will definitely use Proctor for any future automotive repair needs.

Proctor automotive replaced my turbo charger on my older Jetta TDI (diesel), they kept me advised all the time the work was being done with any additional things they found that needed to be done. My service advisor was Vic, but the times I was in or called I found all the people in the front office to be friendly and informative. When the work was finished the car had been restored to the condition it was in before the turbo went out.
